Timouny, an “Éco-défis”-certified company: concrete commitments to a different approach to manufacturing

At Timouny, every little action counts

Bérénice Ménard, founder of Timouny, making a baby accessory in her workshop in Occitanie, exemplifying the brand’s commitments, which have been recognized with the Éco-défis label.

At Timouny, we believe that a baby accessory shouldn’t just be cute or practical. It should also be made with the utmost respect for the child, the people who make it, and the environment.

Designing a baby accessory isn't just about coming up with a pretty fabric or a practical product. It's also about considering its impact on the environment, the people who make it, and the resources used throughout the manufacturing process.

From the very beginning of Timouny, we wanted to build a brand that reflected our values: offering sustainable baby accessories made in France, while minimizing our environmental impact as much as possible.

As part of this initiative, we were awarded the “Éco-défis” certification for retailers and artisans in 2022, in recognition of the concrete steps we have taken to operate our business in a more responsible manner.

What is the Éco-défis label?

Logo of the Éco-défis certification awarded to Timouny in 2022, recognizing its commitment to sustainable development and responsible manufacturing.

The Éco-défis label recognizes retailers and artisans who take concrete steps to promote sustainable development.

The goal is not to be a perfect company, but to commit to a process of continuous improvement in several areas, such as:

  • waste reduction;
  • resource savings;
  • responsible purchasing;
  • raising awareness among partners and customers.

To earn this certification, companies must select several commitments and demonstrate that they are actually being implemented.

Why did we want to earn this certification?

At Timouny, this approach was a given. Our goal has always been to make products that care for babies while being as environmentally friendly as possible.

Participating in the Eco-Challenges program has allowed us to formalize commitments that were already part of our way of working and to take our efforts to reduce our environmental impact even further.

The commitments we have made

1. Reduce our paper usage

For several years now, we have chosen to go paperless for all our invoices.

This helps us reduce our paper usage while simplifying our administrative processes.

Every little action counts when it’s repeated hundreds of times a year.

2. Limit unnecessary packaging

We have asked our fabric and haberdashery suppliers to minimize the amount of packaging used when shipping our orders.

Whenever possible, we also prioritize recycled or reused packaging to reduce waste.

3. Giving Our Fabric Scraps a Second Life

At Timouny, fabric is precious.

Rather than throwing away the scraps left over from making our highchair cushions or baby accessories, we’ve chosen to put them to good use.

They are transformed into new, useful products, such as zero-waste accessories, thereby reducing material waste while offering new designs.

This approach is now an integral part of Timouny’s identity.

An effort that continues every day

Obtaining the certification in 2022 was not the end goal.

Since then, we have continued to fulfill our commitments every day.

Today:

  • 90% of our fabrics come from French suppliers; the remaining 10% are sourced from European suppliers when certain materials are not available in France.
  • Some of our creations are made in a workshop in Occitanie that supports people with disabilities, combining high-quality craftsmanship with a commitment to social responsibility.
  • Since 2025, Timouny has been part of Made in Occitanie, a brand that highlights companies that produce locally and promote regional craftsmanship.
  • To minimize travel, we consolidate our shipments three times a week, which reduces the number of trips to carriers while ensuring fast delivery times.
  • We continue to select fabrics certified to the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 or GOTS, which are recognized for their quality and the absence of harmful substances.

These actions may seem modest when considered individually. Together, they help build a more responsible company.

Why These Commitments Are Important to You

When you choose a Timouny product, you’re choosing much more than just a highchair cushion or a baby accessory.

You are supporting French and local manufacturing, promoting more responsible production, and choosing products made from carefully selected materials.

Every order helps support an artisanal business that strives every day to balance quality, sustainability, and respect for the environment.

Because we are convinced that small actions, repeated day after day, can make a real difference.

What about tomorrow?

Our approach doesn't stop there.

We continue to seek new ways to reduce our environmental impact, improve our manufacturing processes, and offer increasingly sustainable products—without ever compromising on quality or your baby’s comfort.

Every new decision is guided by the same goal: to create accessories that care for children… while also caring for the world in which they will grow up.
